Meet Laura

Laura McVeigh
Travel Writer, Author and Educator
I have always been equally passionate about storytelling, travel and cultural connection. With a love of learning new languages and having travelled to over 70 countries, having lived in different parts of the world, and – prior to my writing career – working internationally with people from over 145 countries, I have a deep curiosity for exploring and understanding better the world around me.
Inspired by travel writers like (fellow Irish woman) Dervla Murphy, Patrick Leigh Fermor, Freya Stark, Jan Morris and Colin Thubron, all known for their rich storytelling and deep cultural insights, I am always seeking out interesting and untold travel stories.
Travel and story are the bridges that enable us to connect to each other better. Story, told well, has the power to transform lives, and open minds and hearts.
For Writers
I also believe that anyone with a love for travel and storytelling can build a thriving career as a writer. I set up Travel-Writing.com to help aspiring travel writers create sustainable careers based around their passion for travel, and I share tips and insights I’ve learnt along the way there. Get access to free mini-guides on emerging travel writing trends, learn about writing with purpose, or get your copy of the The Travel Writer’s Pitch Pack (full of done-for-you pitch templates and step-by-step guidance). This year, I’ve gathered up all I’ve learnt on my own writing journey to create Write Your Way Around the World – available to pre-order now – offering a complete step-by-step roadmap on how to turn your passion for travel into a thriving career.
